STORYLINE:

Over 10 medical experts from provinces relatively advanced in the medical sector have visited and offered support to a hospital in Kashgar, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

At the First People's Hospital of Kashgar Prefecture, the experts carried out ward rounds and case studies, and provided training and guidance to local doctors.

"We learned that the department of pediatric surgery was newly established in this hospital, and we just discussed (with local doctors) on the development of medical subspecialties and technologies here. Such a program helps to improve the accessibility and homogeneity of healthcare services in remote regions like Xinjiang."

The medical experts, together with local doctors, also provided free clinics to about 600 residents in Kashgar.
