The village of Alfriston is largely impassable after days of heavy rain caused the banks of the River Cuckmere (also called the river Uck) to burst its banks with rain water submerging roads to the village; leading to the Enivronmental agency to issue an 'Act Now' flood warning to villagers close to the river. Surounding fields are under water, cattle and other livestock has had to be moved to higher ground and being close ot the sea high tide will cause more water to come in from the sea pushing water levels up.
