Terrifying roller coaster collision injures 17 due to malfunction at Chinese amusement park
A shocking roller coaster collision leaving 17 riders injured at an amusement park in southern China.
The terrifying video was filmed in Shenzhen City in Guangdong Province on October 27.
A roller coaster carrying 22 passengers suddenly malfunctioned, causing it to rapidly descend along the track after ascending a slope. It then collided with another roller coaster in the process of unloading passengers at the station with only nine people left.
A total of 28 individuals received medical attention at three hospitals, 11 individuals were cleared after examination and were able to leave voluntarily and 17 individuals remain in hospital care. Four of them sustained injuries such as head trauma and pelvic fractures and are under intensive care unit observation with stable vital signs. Thirteen others suffered soft tissue contusions, minor fractures, and similar injuries and are undergoing continued treatment in regular wards.
The health authorities in the city and district are committed to managing medical resources efficiently and providing comprehensive care for the injured individuals. An investigative team, jointly formed by Shenzhen city and district authorities, is actively working to determine the exact cause of the incident.
Happy Valley amusement park announced a temporary closure for renovation, starting from October 28. They are cooperating fully with the investigative team to conduct a thorough inquiry into the accident's causes and responsibilities.
