Argentina: Wildfire Aggravated By Zonda Wind In Luján De Cuyo, More Than 80 Evacuated
The Zonda wind (Spanish: viento zonda), the foehn wind that often occurs in the Andes, hit parts of Mendoza, western Argentina, on Saturday, October 28, and caused fires in Luján de Cuyo on Sunday.
Fires were almost controlled, but as a precaution, 82 people, including Chilean children who had come to Mendoza for a soccer competition, were evacuated to a sports center in the city.
