A child dragon dancer had a terrifying accident during a dangerous dragon dance stunt at a market in Thailand on 30 October.

The boy clung onto the top of a tall wooden pole as he was swung around by fellow performers during a show at the Nakhon Chum Old Town Market in Kamphaeng Phet province.

But while being launched upward, the youngster appeared to lose his grip, landing on his head and falling unconscious. The other troupe members picked him up and rushed him to a hospital.

He later regained consciousness, but had suffered a skull fracture.

Doctors said he was lucid and had no brain bleeding, but would need to be monitored for another day for potential complications from the concussion.

The incident has sparked discussion among the locals about street performers' safety.

Chinese dragon dances are a form of traditional dance and performance in China.

Like lion dances, they are most often seen during festive celebrations, such as Chinese New Year, weddings, and other special occasions.
