Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani said on Monday the country has proposed to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to form a specialized committee comprising international lawyers to document Israeli "war crimes" for submission to international organizations.   

He made the remarks at a weekly press conference in the Iranian capital Tehran, while elaborating on Iran's legal measures to counter Israeli "crimes" against Palestinians and, particularly, the people of Gaza. 

Kanaani said the proposal was put forward by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian at an emergency meeting of the OIC's Executive Committee in Jeddah on Oct. 18 and in his meeting with OIC's Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha on the same day. 

He added the Iranian foreign minister stressed that the committee should be set up to document "war crimes" perpetrated by Israel over the past seven decades and, especially, against Gaza during the past three weeks through collecting relevant evidence, preparing the ground for submitting the documents and evidence to the responsible international organization, including the International Court of Justice, to hold the "criminals" and those supporting them to account.
