In a swift and courageous act of heroism, 72-year-old pensioner Mikhail Makarov from Shchelkovo, Russia, prevented a robber from making off with a schoolboy's smartphone.

On the afternoon of October 23, while repairing his car outside his home, Makarov witnessed a 35-year-old man snatching a student's phone and attempting to escape.

Unfazed by the situation, Makarov sprang into action, tripping the thief and restraining him until a woman rushed to the scene and managed to wrest the phone from the mugger's grasp.
