Truck smuggling two thousand cats stopped on motorway
An unpleasant video has emerged from China of a truck found smuggling nearly 2,000 cats after getting stopped at a highway station.
In the footage, filmed in Zhejiang Province on Sunday, the cats can be seen locked in 120 wooden cages inside the truck while one of the rescuers is giving the poor creatures water and food.
According to news reports, the smugglers caught these animals in three different provinces and were going to deliver them to the southern country for sale, mostly for food.
The cats have reportedly been transferred to local animal hospitals and, where possible, will be returned to their owners with the help of police and animal protection officers.
