On September 18, 2023, Libya was struck by the devastating force of Storm Daniel, resulting in catastrophic floods that claimed the lives of over 25,000 people. The storm brought about intense winds and sudden heavy rainfall, which led to the collapse of two dams and subsequent widespread flooding across north-eastern Libya, affecting towns such as Derna, Benghazi, Tobruk, Almari, and Sousa. The aftermath of this natural disaster left homes, hospitals, roads, and power lines in ruins, with entire city streets being submerged by the surging waters. Volunteer @qy_zp, who serves with the Libyan Red Crescent, captured a grim scene of destruction in Derna and reported the urgent efforts to recover bodies near the port, highlighting the harrowing consequences of this tragic event.
