This is the hilarious moment snorkellers are frightened by a ‘harmless’ shark swimming up to them.

Ilan Elgrably was flying his drone over the sea near Israel when he spotted four divers enjoying the sights of the water.

Funny footage shows a group of sandbar sharks swim over to the snorkellers who apparently don’t notice them until one of the animals rubs up against them.

Taken completely by surprise, one of the snorkellers begins thrashing around before two of them end up hugging together for protection.

Ilan said: “Sandbar sharks are pretty much harmless, really inoffensive animals. They would never have bitten the snorkellers at all.

“However, the water was very murky so the visibility wouldn’t have been very good. It would have taken them completely by surprise.

“The sharks visit here every year and they’re happy to swim close by humans.”
