Villagers living next to an untouched scenic spot were baffled as the nearby mountain suddenly began attracting so many tourists that on one occasion they crowded at the top, forming a line of people from one end to the other.

Video footage shows thousands of visitors slowly moving in a dense line along the top of Jianlong Mountain, in China's southern Guangxi Region.

So many people had apparently decided to join the hike that the mountain was swarmed with tourists from the foothill all the way to the ridge. From a distance, it almost looked like a lively army of ants.

Jianlong Mountain is renowned for its unique natural landscapes and rich cultural atmosphere. In recent months, with the rapid development of the tourism industry, the mountain has become a sought-after destination for a large number of tourists. Local residents said that while tourists are abundant, the local government has taken multiple measures to maintain order, ensuring that visitors tour the area in a safe and orderly manner.

Mr Huang, who runs a small convenience store in a nearby village, told local media that few people used to climb Jianlong Mountain. As a local, he had never been to the mountaintop. However, he noticed the mountain suddenly became popular during the recent holidays.

He said: 'Maybe someone climbed the mountain, filmed a video, and posted it online, which made Jianlong Mountain popular.'

Throughout recent days, the mountain has been densely packed with people, visible even from the village.

Mr Huang admitted that he did not know why the mountain suddenly became popular.

However, as a local villager, he is happy about its popularity and hopes that the village can engage in tourism development to boost local growth.
