Protesters in South Africa gathered in Cape Town today (November 1st) to protest inaction from their government against Israel during the current conflict in Gaza.

Anti-apartheid cleric Dr Allan Boesak has condemned the inaction of President Cyril Ramaphosa and also called for the Israeli ambassador to South Africa to be expelled and for the Boycotts, Disinvestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign to become and official government policy.

Boesak made these remarks as supporters of Palestine protested outside the security perimeter where parliament is sitting at the Cape Town City Hall. After a brief confrontation with riot police the protesters were allowed to march to outside the barrier of the secure area. They have vowed to continue protests to pressure the South African government to take action against Israel.
