STORYLINE:
STANDUP (Arabic): OSAMA FAYYAD, Head of Al-Hara Library at Women's Programs Center
"I am Osama Fayyad, head of Al-Hara Library at the Women's Programs Center.
We started holding activities for children in the area to ease their psychological burdens. We are here to help those displaced from northern Gaza who came to Deir al-Balah camp, which is located in an area close to the sea and is being bombed by naval warships.
These children suffer from many mental illnesses. We are cooperating with the UNICEF Emergency Project to work with displaced children inside this camp. We go to schools every day to do some activities with the children to relieve psychological pressures on them. We call on everyone to work to protect children and relieve them.
We hope everyone will have safe spaces in every school to reduce children's psychological suffering. We are working to achieve this in every school. We go to schools to hold recreational and psychologically stimulating activities for the children.
The current situation is exceptional due to the continuous bombing of this area. We carry out these activities with the children and their families to relieve them of the pressures they suffer from, especially from the nighttime bombing of warplanes and warships. These children are vulnerable to constant psychological relapses."
SOUNDBITE (Arabic): SOLAFA FAYYAD, Displaced child
"My name is Solafa Fayyad. I'm 11 years old. I live here in Deir al-Balah. Like everyone here, I'm a displaced person, but we still participate in the activities of the Tamer Foundation and UNICEF to get rid of our psychological burdens. We feel good now."
