Timelapse footage shows the massive Highland Fire ripping through southern California on October 30.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CALFIRE) said the blaze fanned by strong winds broke out in Riverside County on October 30, sparking the evacuation of some 4,000 residents.

The department said 1,235 personnel have been dispatched to combat the 2,487-acre brush fire, which was 20 per cent contained as of November 1 evening.

Four helicopters have also been deployed to assist with firefighting efforts.

Six structures were damaged, seven were destroyed, and one person was injured, CALFIRE said.
