STORYLINE:
Chinese aerial technology company EHang Tuesday opened a European operation center at the Lleida-Alguaire Airport in Spain's northeastern region of Catalonia.
During the inauguration of the center, EHang carried out a demonstration flight of its EH216-S vehicle, the first flight of a certified electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL).
According to the company, the EH216-S has a capacity for two passengers, a range of 30 km, and can reach a speed of 130 km/h.

"Our EH216 aircraft, deployed in this operations center, will allow us to accumulate extensive operational experience and generate knowledge, data and information of inestimable value."
The opening of the center comes two years after the company signed a strategic agreement with Catalonia's airport authority to develop European Urban Air Mobility (UAM) projects.
