Massive fire at pharmaceuticals factory in western India claims several lives, NDRF rescue ongoing
As many as seven people died and several others left injured after a massive fire broke out at a pharmaceuticals factory in western India's Maharashtra.
This incident happened at the Blue Jet Healthcare, located in Mahad MIDC area of Raigad district on November 3.
Visuals showed officials of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) at work as they removed the debris to rescue those trapped. They used an excavator to remove the debris and help save the lives who were still alive in this accident. The officials also were seen carrying the victims to an ambulance.
According to a report, seven dead bodies have been found in this place. As per initial reports, the flames broke out due to an explosion in the factory and explosions occurred when the fire spread to the chemicals barrels.
Following a preliminary investigation, administrative authorities have determined that the fire's cause was a short circuit. According to officials, the fire initially ignited following an explosion within the plant. Subsequently, a barrel containing dyes stored on-site exploded once more due to the ongoing fire, leading to the rapid spread of the flames throughout the facility.
As per the police, approximately 57 individuals were within the plant at the time of the fire's outbreak, with 46 of them successfully rescued. Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge stated, "We have discovered seven bodies, and four individuals remain unaccounted for. We suspect that all of them are employees of the plant. The condition of some of the bodies is severely burnt, making identification challenging, but we are making efforts to establish their identities."
