When one door closes, another one opens. That's exactly how the story of young Chaman Verma from northern India's Uttarakhand goes. After having trained to get into the Indian army, Verma has had to suffer a lot of rejection before he finally found a new path to showcase his talent. 'I have been trying for the past four years to get enrolled into the Indian Army and trained really hard for it. I cleared the tests based on running but everytime, the medical exams were a roadblock. Last year was the last time this happened."
Despite having failed to get into the army, Verma didn't give up hope. The youngster, hailing from the Masi area in Almora district of the state, decided to make good use of his fitness and well-maintained physique. Social media came to his aid of course as he decided to perform stunts of several kinds and share these videos on social media. Just as the army opportunity didn't work out, this one did. His videos of performing stunts and exercises went incredibly viral on social media with many appreciating him for his dedication and hard work.
The amusing visuals of his stunts were shot on October 6.
"I work hard and train every day with my friends. In the morning, we train for a couple of hours and repeat the same in the evening as well. My friends shoot my videos and I sometimes reach them as well," he shared.
From performing backflips to push ups with one hand, that too while resting on beer bottles, the range of stunts that Verma can perform is incredible and impressive. In one of the visuals, he was seen trying to perform push-ups with quick jumps in between and the seamlessly easy way he switches from one move to the other is inexplicable. The youngster also was seen performing a big jump over 11 children who were lined up together. Somersaults and flips, he does it all like it's child's play!
With his videos, he wants to appeal to the Government of India to provide him with quality training so that he could go on to make the country proud in the international area.
TRANSCRIPT OF SOUNDBITE
Hello everyone, I am Chaman Verma, hailing from Masi village of Almora district in Uttrakhand. Many of you must have seen my stunt videos on Instagram, Whatsapp and Facebook.
I have been applying for the Indian Army for the past four years. Every year I used to clear all the rounds but got rejected in the medical round. Last year August was my last try and the same thing happened.
I did not give up and continued my fitness journey. I learnt a lot from social media. Many of you must have seen my videos there.
I practice daily for about one and a half hours to two hours in the morning. My friends join me in the evening and we practice for about 2 and a half hours. I teach them several stunts and techniques.
We don't have required equipment for our practice. I hope this video reaches out to the government so that we can be provided with a training coach, proper diet and sponsorship, so that in the coming years I can bring a medal for the country.
