Timelapse captures aurora borealis in all its glory above UK
A stunning aurora was captured in all its glory by a timelapse set by a photographer in Swatragh, Northern Ireland.
The footage from November 5 and 6 shows the Northern Lights dazzling in the night sky.
The filmer told Newsflare: "As the sky cleared an awesome and rare sight manifested in the sky called STEVE, this took the form of a vivid naked eye ribbon of light extending across the entire sky from west to east, in the latter area it flared into brilliance near planet Jupiter (bright star on timelapse).
"To the naked eye, we thought it looked like a celestial tornado and it even developed fine linear filaments like a feather. The camera picked up striking purple and red colours, this is an extremely rare phenomenon to witness from the UK, in fact, this is the first time I have observed it since my first aurora in 1998.
"You can see STEVE in the timelapse sequence at the beginning. The rest of the aurora was stunning with red, pink, and green beams visible to the naked eye reaching almost overhead."
