Irish premier Leo Varadkar has said the Government is doing its “best” to get around 40 Irish citizens out of Gaza.
Speaking to reporters in Co Cork, Mr Varadkar said: “There are in and around 40 Irish citizens in Gaza and we’re doing our best to get them out.
The Taoiseach said he does not regret saying that the Israeli response to the October 7 Hamas attack was becoming “something more approaching revenge”.
He was responding to a question on whether he believed the comment had hampered diplomatic relations with Israel over the exit of Irish citizens from Gaza.
