Restraining Order Violation Suspect Barricades Himself Taking Child Hostage in Standoff Lasting More than 7 Hours

Hemet, Calif. — On Monday, November 6, 2023, at approximately 7:30 am, the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received a call reference a restraining order violation in the 2800 block of Marilee Court.
Officers arrived on scene and contacted the victim along with two children outside of the residence. The investigation revealed, 46-year-old Angel Carrillo of Los Angeles, was inside the residence with another juvenile.
Carrillo barricaded himself in the residence with the child and refused to exit.
Officers were eventually able to remove the child from the residence; however, Carrillo refused to surrender.
Based on the circumstances, the Southwest Cities SWAT Team, which Hemet PD is a member of, responded to the residence and assumed negotiations with Carrillo.
After several hours of barricading himself in the residence, Carrillo was subsequently taken into custody.
Carrillo was arrested for an array of crimes, in addition to his several outstanding warrants. He is being held on $233,000.00 bail.
