Students were knocked over by the powerful gusts amid the first major blizzard this season in northern China.

Video filmed in the city of Harbin in Heilongjiang Province on November 6 shows students struggling to walk forward as the powerful gusts push them back and the icy terrain sends many sliding and tumbling down to the ground.

According to the filmer Zhang, the snow began to fall and continued well into the morning, blanketing the campus in a thick, slippery coat. The storm, characterised by relentless winds and heavy snowfall, lasted more than a dozen hours.
