Cape Town, South Africa - 7 November 2023: The Palestine Solidarity Campaign and activists from various other organisations held a candle light vigil in front of South Africa’s parliament for the victims of the war in Gaza. The vigil comes a day after South Africa recalled its diplomatic mission to Israel.

The activists are calling for South Africa’s government to expel the Israeli ambassador and to intensify the Boycotts, Disinvestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign.

There have been several large protests in Cape Town since 7 October when Hamas militants attacked Israel which resulted in a military retaliation by Israel.

After the gathering in front of parliament the group marched to the Israeli Centre further up the street at left the burning candles at the centre’s entrance. The centre also houses the South African Holocaust Museum.
