A group of tourists narrowly dodged a massive landslide blocking their way during a visit to a mountain scenic spot in China.

Phone footage shows dozens of holidaymakers running away screaming as a massive pile of black dirt rushed down the side of the mountain in Lijiang, in China's south-western Yunnan Province on November 5.

Many of them had gathered close to the landfall when it first began, with a few scattered rocks and sand rolling downhill. The rocks had blocked the road and they all stopped and got out of their vehicles to film.

After a short while, more rocks and sand started falling rapidly. At the same time, a few men shouted at the tourists to move quickly and step back, but they appeared to be busy taking photos and failed to retreat right away.

But as the situation became increasingly alarming with more rocks falling and dragging along heaps of dirt, the tourists screamed and rushed back in panic towards their vehicles.

Another piece of footage filmed from the opposite side of the landslide shows other tourists who appeared to have been cut off from the rest of the group when the road was buried under a pile of soil.

No injuries or damages have been reported.

The blockage has reportedly been cleared and the road has since been reopened for traffic.
