SOUNDBITE (Chinese): ANTHONY LOKE SIEW FOOK, Malaysian Transport Minister
"In Malaysia, many projects have been carried out under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The biggest one is the East Coast Rail Link, which is currently under construction and will be completed in a few years. Over the past 10 years, cooperation under the BRI has definitely strengthened the relations between Malaysia and China.
We have seen that other countries, especially Southeast Asian countries, also welcome BRI projects. Indonesia has put into use the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway. It's a very good example. The Indonesian government and the Indonesian people appreciate this project very much.
For Malaysia, we hope that through the BRI, we can continue to build a long-term friendly relationship with China, which will boost development and ensure long-term cooperation (between the two countries.)"
