SOUNDBITE 1 (English): MUNIR AKRAM, Pakistan's permanent representative to the United Nations
"China is a major power. It is a permanent member of the Security Council. But we see China acting responsibly in the Security Council. China has also indicated that the best solution is dialogue and cooperation. It has emphasized the need for development as a basis to avoid conflicts and to prevent conflicts. These are responsible approaches."

The seasoned diplomat noted that on the Ukraine crisis and the Middle East issue, China advocated dialogue for resolution.
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): MUNIR AKRAM, Pakistan's permanent representative to the United Nations"It (China) has made a proposal for peace talks and to hold the fighting. We think this is the right approach. The fighting in Ukraine must stop. There should be a cessation of hostilities. Similarly, on the Middle East issue, with the war we are facing now, China has also called for an immediate cessation of hostilities. That is the first step we must take. In any conflict, it's to stop the fighting and then to develop a political solution for the conflict. And I think we agree with China's approach, and we support its efforts in the Security Council to bring peace in Ukraine, in the Middle East and many other hot spots around the world."
