U.S. Marines and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Conduct Joint Rocket Systems Exercise In Hokkaido, Japan
This footage was filmed and produced 27 October 2023.
U.S. Marines from the 3d Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division, joined forces with Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) service members in a collaborative display of military prowess. The exercise, part of Resolute Dragon 23 (RD 23), took place at the JGSDF Yausubetsu Maneuver Area in Hokkaido, Japan, on October 27, 2023.
This annual bilateral exercise is designed to bolster the command, control, and multi-domain maneuver capabilities of U.S. Marines in the III Marine Expeditionary Force, alongside their counterparts in the allied Japan Self-Defense Force personnel. The troops participated in the field training exercise portion of RD 23, where they effectively employed High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems and M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System launchers.
Resolute Dragon 23 serves as a testament to the enduring partnership between the United States and Japan, reinforcing their collective commitment to maintaining security and readiness in the Indo-Pacific region. The joint training exercise not only enhances the skills and coordination of the participating forces but also underscores the strong bond between these two allied nations.
