An American tourist claimed she was raped by a man she met on a dating app in Bangkok, Thailand (the city seen in the video in file footage).

The female teacher, 24, had allegedly swiped right on the suspect Tienming He, 25, while she was browsing Tinder and agreed to see him at a bar on November 2.

Following a night of drinks, Tienming reportedly asked to stay at the woman's room - a request she claimed she obliged on the condition there would be no sex involved.

However, the alleged rapist reportedly broke his promise, became violent, and forced himself on her. She allegedly kicked him out of the room and filed a report with the Somdet Chaopraya police on November 4.

Police Colonel Sunthorn Malawet, superintendent of the Somdet Chaopraya Police Station, said: 'Officers reviewed the CCTV footage and obtained an arrest warrant for the Chinese national from the Thonburi Criminal Court.'

A search was launched, and Tienming He, who had been going by the nickname 'Tim' on his dating profile, was detained at a residence on Ratchadaphisek Road in Bangkok on November 7.

He allegedly told authorities that he had met up with the woman and planned to have sex with her. He claims the sex was consensual.

Police Colonel Sunthorn said: 'The police are coordinating with the Immigration Bureau and Tourist Police to secure an interpreter for the interrogation of the suspect, and to gather information from witnesses.'

Tienming was remanded in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police Colonel Sunthorn Malawet added: 'Evidence is still being gathered from the complainant and the suspect. We are also seeking special technical advice about these kinds of dating apps and the messages that were sent between the two people.

'If the evidence is compelling, the suspect will be prosecuted. We are in close contact with both parties to find out exactly what happened.'
