Four people were injured and four are still buried under the rubble following a hotel collapse on an island in Malaysia on Thursday morning.

Footage shows staff and rescue team walking around the ruins of the building - which was still under construction - on the Perhentian Islands in Besut, Terengganu, on November 9.

Muhammad Basri Kamarazaman, assistant director of operations of the Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department, said four injured Burmese workers were rushed to the hospital while officers were searching for four others from Myanmar believed to be buried beneath the rubble.

He said: 'The fire station received a call from a member of the public about the incident at 7:34 am and dispatched a team from the Besut fire station to the scene.'

Rescue operations were ongoing, with K9 sniffer dogs and air units joining the search. Authorities have not yet clarified the cause of the collapse.
