Residents living in Hunchun, China's Jilin Province, are on high alert after footage emerged of a Siberian tiger casually strolling along a road.

The visuals captured on November 6 at 11 pm show the wild animal walking along a road, pausing, and then wandering off into a wooded area.

According to local resident Mr Chen, the tiger came down from a nearby mountain, circled around the entrance of a factory, and then left.

He also claimed that the tiger population in the area has increased meaning the number of sightings has grown too.

He said: "Basically, tigers will come down from the mountains every once in a while, but because there is more food than in the mountains. They generally do not harm poultry and livestock. But if it is snowy weather, or if the tiger is older and it is inconvenient to hunt, it will also enter the village to look for food.

"You must still be cautious when encountering a tiger."
