STORYLINE:

STANDUP 1 (English): SUNNY ZHOU, Xinhua correspondent
"Welcome to Sunny's Spotlight, with me on a 'green' exploring tour at the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE).
While China pursues a path of high-quality development, global enterprises, from start-ups to tech giants, have discovered opportunities and potential within the Chinese market.
What kind of technologies have been showcased at this year's CIIE? And how will they shape our future lives and work? Let's find out."

STANDUP 2 (English): SUNNY ZHOU, Xinhua correspondent
"High-quality production sometimes involves green intelligence.
This 'repeat participant' of the CIIE has been striving to provide smart solutions for sustainable development.
I'm really curious to know what they've brought this year."

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): LARS ECKERLEIN, General Manager of ABB (China) Limited
"High-quality development, as well as green transformation, are two of the buzzwords here. So we have a lot of our smart building solutions here, green solutions, but then also the latest and energy efficient electric motors coupled with variable speed drives that help save energy massively.
We are very positive about the development opportunities in the Chinese market. We have been, over the last decades, being a witness, a participant, and a beneficiary of the positive developments in the market and we see now that the focus is increasingly on the high-quality development, so really innovation-driven development as well as on the green transformation."

STANDUP 3 (English): SUNNY ZHOU, Xinhua correspondent
"Here is the booth of Zeiss, a German optical systems giant that has attended all six editions of the CIIE."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): MAXIMILIAN FOERST, President & CEO, Zeiss Greater China
"In CIIE, we can present the complete group and all activities in China. And for us, it's a very good way to communicate our strategy moving forward, our commitment to the China market and to really talk to all the different levels of stakeholders.
If you look at the Chinese market, it's full of opportunities. First of all, it's a market which is still in growth. Secondly, if you go into different sectors, we see a lot of opportunities in particular in innovation and sustainability. We see some real mega trends which are coming out of China. I'd in particular like to talk about new energy vehicles and everything which is around new energy vehicles, in particular batteries, where actually China is a hotspot of where things are happening globally. So this is why we as a company who is interested in these developments are here working together with Chinese manufacturers.
Another area, of course, which is very dynamic in China is the whole area of renewable energies. So these are really areas where we see China leading the world. Then we are also active in healthcare. I see a lot of opportunities moving forward. So if I think of it, I think definitely exciting."

STANDUP 4 (English): SUNNY ZHOU, Xinhua correspondent
"For the first time this year, the CIIE has established an Innovation Incubation Special Section for international startups.
And it's worth noting that many unique solutions, some of which are making their debut in China, focus on technologies to reduce pollution and promote sustainability."

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): PETER JI, CEO, WAT Medical Enterprise Ltd., Canada
"We're excited to really launch the devices into the Chinese market starting this year. And that's the devices we brought with us today. Our newest model of the anti-nausea-induced vomiting device.
It's really hard for us to make our voices heard among the really well-established companies.
For a startup company like this, we're really looking for opportunities to meet potential buyers, potential investors, as well as collaborators. And the CIIE has allowed us to do that very successfully this time."

SOUNDBITE 4 (English): SIOBHAN KILBRIDE, Senior technologist, Colloids Limited, UK
"Our main products that we are trying to promote within China are our BeaNused range, which is focusing on taking recycled coffee beans from the likes of Starbucks and McDonald's, extracting the oil out of the ground coffee beans, and then incorporating the used coffee beans into different kinds of plastics, so this is a sustainable filler.
It's a great opportunity for us to be here. There are big companies, small companies. It's a good way for us to create connections as people are walking around regularly. There are a lot of people coming up to us and they can come talk to us. So there are many different opportunities and advantages.
I can't wait to have the opportunity to come back next year."

STANDUP 5 (English): SUNNY ZHOU, Xinhua correspondent
"That's it for today's Sunny's Spotlight. Stay tuned. Bye!"
