A sizeable pro-Palestinian rally took place today (Saturday, 11 November) in London, igniting controversy due to its scheduling on Armistice Day.

Organisers of the event, the National March for Palestine, faced criticism for planning the rally on the same day as Armistice Day, a day of remembrance for those who have fallen in war. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak voiced concerns that the rally could clash with Armistice Day commemorations, potentially leading to altercations or disruptions.

Despite the apprehensions, the rally went ahead as planned, with participants assembling in Hyde Park and marching approximately three miles to the US embassy. The march was organised to protest against the US's support for Israel during the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Organisers of the National March for Palestine have defended their decision to hold the rally on Armistice Day, arguing that it is crucial to remember the victims of war while also championing Palestinian rights. They have also reiterated their commitment to peaceful protest.
