Prayagraj, a city in Uttar Pradesh, is being choked by smog following Diwali where fireworks and firecrackers would have been set off in the celebrations.

Footage from November 13 shows a reduction in visibility due to heavy smog in the air.

According to India's Central Pollution Control Board, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was less than 100 on Sunday morning, now the AQI has reached around 200.

A score of 151-200 is deemed as "unhealthy" levels of pollution.

Local resident Ras Bihari Mishra said: "Yesterday was Diwali, firecrackers were burst at night due to which the atmosphere is filled with smoke, due to which people have problems breathing.

"Today, as a precaution, we must wear masks on such occasions, otherwise we will suffer from many diseases."

Pollution in the air increased at night. By 10 pm, AQI in many areas crossed 200. According to CPCB, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was less than 100 on Sunday morning, now the AQI has reached around 200.
After the poor air quality of Delhi, now the air quality in Uttar Pradesh has also become very bad this morning due to which people were facing difficulty in commuting. Currently, if we talk about the air quality of Prayagraj, its index has reached 224.
