This is the amusing moment an overly friendly guard dog failed to stop an alleged thief from robbing a warehouse in Thailand.

The black-and-white pooch named Panda had been tasked to protect the one hectare property surrounded by fences in Udon Thani province.

However, Panda appeared to have grown too accustomed to humans, and casually let the suspected thief into the building without putting up a fight on November 8.

CCTV footage shows the male stranger wearing a blue shirt, grey shirts, white cap, and a backpack casually walking over in front of the warehouse, apparently unaware of the surveillance camera recording him.

He was seen making brief conversation with Panda before entering the building and emerging with the stolen loot around eight minutes later.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Kritsada Chanon of the Muang Udon Thani Police Station said officers received a report about the incident at 5:30 pm on November 8. Investigations found that the property belonged to Wiroj Srichaiyaratin, 48, who had converted the office building into a warehouse to store construction materials.

Speaking to local media, Wiroj said he had received an alert on his CCTV phone app about the man's activity, but had been too busy to check the footage until after the theft. He said the man had made off with 34,000 THB (950 USD) of items, including six Buddha images and an angle grinder.

Wiroj added: 'The premises are guarded by two dogs, including Panda. The other dog is a Bangkaew dog and is more aggressive and protective. I'm disappointed that Panda did not bark or scare off the burglar.

'If the man had entered from the back of the warehouse, he would have encountered the other dog. He wouldn't have gotten away with the theft so easily.'

Police said they were reviewing CCTV footage around the area to track down the suspect's escape route.
