Eight fishing boats engulfed in fire in southern India, no casualties reported

Massive fire broke out in eight fishing boats anchored on the river bank in southern India's Karnataka.

The incident on the river bank at Gangolli in Udupi district on November 13.

Visuals showed flames coming out of the boats. Thick black smoke covered the entire sky while a large group of locals were seen running around in panic.

According to reports, insiders reported that the origin of the fire remained uncertain initially. The flames, which originated on a single boat, quickly extended to other boats moored in close proximity.

Firefighters from Kundapur and Byndoor, along with personnel from the coast guard and police, successfully managed to bring the fire under control. Additionally, Byndoor fire service members promptly arrived at the scene, receiving support from the Gangolli coast guard force and police in the collaborative rescue efforts.

The loss due to the fire is estimated to run into several thousands of dollars.
