A tanker spewed toxic yellow gas due to the blocked valve in northern China.

The terrifying moment was filmed in the city of Shijiazhuang in Hebei Province on November 13.

A tanker waiting at a traffic light began emitting billows of yellow gas from its top. A man, in a desperate attempt to control the situation, clambered atop the tank to close a valve. However, this action triggered a massive eruption of material, spreading rapidly and creating a shocking spectacle.

The local transportation bureau released a statement after investigating the incident. The tanker, owned by a local hazardous materials transportation company, was carrying "water purification agent", loaded with 30 tons of the material.

Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the leakage was caused by a blocked vent hole in the valve. Currently, an investigation is underway involving the company and the vehicle, with legal actions to be taken as necessary.

13日晚上，无极县交通运输局表示，经查，视频中罐车为无极县某危化品运输公司车辆，运输货物为“净水剂”（三氯化铁，属腐蚀性物品），装载30吨。该车上午7时左右由南至北行至藁城东高速口南行500米位置，车辆顶部阀门漏出烟状气体。押运人员上前查看原因时，阀门被憋开，喷出柱状气体，未造成人员伤亡。随后押运人员及时关闭阀门至安全状态，并行使至目的地，上午9时许在目的地卸货完毕。泄露原因初步判定为阀门排气孔堵塞所致。目前，已对涉事企业和车辆开展调查，依法处置。同时将举一反三，强化措施，加强对危险货物运输车辆检查力度和频次，防止类似问题再次发生。
