On November 3 a Texas Highway Patrol cop made a startling discovery during a routine traffic stop in Kinney County.

After pulling over the driver of an SUV, the DPS (Texas Department of Public Safety) trooper noticed there were people in the back of the vehicle and arrested the driver. As he did so, three more people jumped out and ran.

The officer then discovered another man inside, who wrestled with the cop as he was being arrested, at which point another adult jumped out and fled.

Opening the trunk, the officer then discovered two kids, aged 9 and 7, taking the total number of people in the vehicle to eight.

The driver now faces five counts of smuggling of persons.

The young children have been referred to Border Patrol, along with the other individuals involved in the incident.
