This is the moment a suspected drug user crashed into a shop while escaping police in Bangkok, Thailand.

The erratic motorist was stopped by police at a checkpoint in the Samrong Tai district but sped away from them sparking a dramatic chase on November 8.

CCTV footage shows the bungling rider turning a corner to shake off his pursuers. However, he crashed into an auto repair shop and was nabbed by police, who dragged him back onto the road and cuffed him.

Thepparit Phimkhot, 31, a shop worker who witnessed the incident, said: 'I thought the man had come to our shop for repairs. But then I saw the police following him and arresting him. They seized around a gram of crystal meth from him. I was so shocked that I thought I was being pranked.

'I've never seen the rider before. But he might be from around here since he was wearing a motorcycle taxi vest.'

Another employee suffered minor injuries when the suspect knocked a parked motorbike onto him during the arrest.

The shop owner said cops had inquired about damages to the shop, adding she had declined reimbursement as the damage was minor and occurred during a police operation.

The alleged drug user was hauled to the police station for investigation.
