Officials of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) came to the aid of two men trapped in a 15m (50 feet)-deep well in northern India's Uttar Pradesh on 14 November.

The incident took place in Katari Village in Varanasi.

Video showed officials pulling one of the men out with ropes.

According to reports, one man initially fell into the well and the other also got trapped inside when he tried to rescue the first.

Once alerted, a rescue crew rushed to the spot and conducted the rescue operation under the direction of Deputy Inspector General Major Kumar Sharma.

One of them, identified as 40-year-old Sunil Ram, was taken out in a conscious state, while the other, 65-year-old Ramchandra Vishwakarma, was pulled out unconscious and was rushed to hospital.

Visuals showed the rescue operation in progress with the officials doing their best to pull out these men. One of the two was taken out with the help of a rope. According to a report, initially one had fallen into the well and the other also got trapped inside after he had delved inside in a bid to rescue him. The information reached the district administration and the NDRF in Gautam Buddha Bhawan was informed as well. They rushed to the spot and conducted the rescue operation under the direction of Deputy Inspector General Major Kumar Sharma. With the help of the rope rescue technique, they pulled out both men.

One of them, identified as a 40-year-old named Sunil Ram was taken out in a conscious state while the other, 65-year-old Ramchandra Vishwakarma was rescued in an unconscious condition. He was rushed to the hospital with the help of the police officers.
