An avenue in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), newly rehabilitated by Chinese companies, opened to traffic on Monday.

DRC President Felix Tshisekedi cut the ribbon for the rehabilitation project on Nzolana Avenue.

He commended the high-quality work carried out by the Chinese companies involved.

The newly opened road is expected to improve the flow of traffic in this part of Kinshasa, a megacity that suffers from traffic congestion.

SOUNDBITE (French): NICO NZAU, Director of Congolese Agency for Great Works
"The collaboration is good. Because, as I have said, to be able to deliver it in time, we needed a great collaboration, certainly a synergy between Chinese companies and us. Workers had to work day and night and our teams have been here day and night. They still are. The road is now available. It can now be delivered completely to the public."

Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Kinshasa.
