Kind-hearted Chinese blogger saves dog in labour at barbecue stand, igniting community support
A kind-hearted blogger saved a dog in labour at a barbecue stand, igniting community support in southern China.
The video was filmed in the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong Province on November 5.
The owner of the barbecue stand, a kind lady, was distressed as her beloved dog was struggling with difficult labour. Concerned and not knowing what to do, the lady was in a state of panic.
The blogger, seeing her distress, quickly jumped into action, contacting a 24-hour veterinary clinic. Despite her financial constraints, the stand owner, without a second thought, abandoned her barbecue stand and accompanied the blogger and the dog to the clinic. The other customers left unattended, grumbled for a moment but soon began grilling their own food, absorbed in the unexpected turn of events.
A poignant scene unfolded as the dog’s loyal canine friend, a “good buddy”, followed them for three streets, tailing the owner's tricycle. The blogger spent considerable effort persuading the devoted companion to return to the stand.
Throughout the journey, tears streamed down the owner's face as she expressed her gratitude, saying, “If it weren’t for you, my dog would have died unnoticed.”
At the hospital, the veterinary team performed emergency surgery on the mother dog. Out of six puppies, five were saved, and the dog was also neutered for free.
This story struck a chord with netizens. The original video garnered an astounding 962,000 likes, sparking widespread discussions and shares across social media platforms.
The tale found its happy ending in the compassionate response of the online community. Moved by the story, the Wan Jiao Pet Hospital, already known for offering discounts to stray animals, decided to waive all further treatment and care costs for the dog and her puppies. Additionally, the barbecue stand owner received unexpected attention from netizens who wished to support her business.
As of the latest update, the mother dog and her puppies are doing well. The blogger shared with reporters that some regular customers, having seen the video, sent messages of praise, bringing joy to his heart. He emphasised the silent efforts of pet hospitals in Shenzhen, saying, “All pet hospitals here are quietly contributing, helping everyone within their capacity. We just happened to be the ones who noticed this time.
