Video captured desperate scenes as boats were used to rescue dozens of trapped construction site workers from rapidly rising floodwaters in Hue, Vietnam on Wednesday 15 November.

The speed with which the waters rose made it impossible for workers to escape, forcing workers to climb onto roofs and other high positions while they waited for rescue boats.

But the waters were moving so fast even boats could not reach them initially and the situation became increasingly desperate.

Eventually, after a lot of effort, rescue boats were able to reach the site and bring the workers to safety.

Continuous rain for many days has caused severe flooding in the central region of Vietnam -- the worst in 10 years, according to some observers.
