Four sailors rescued as cargo ship breaks apart in China
A cargo ship broke in half and sank, but fortunately, all four crew members were rescued by individuals from nearby boats in southern China.
The CCTV footage was filmed in Guangzhou City in Guangdong Province on November 15. A cargo ship suddenly split in the middle while navigating the waters.
Mr Liu, a participant in the rescue operation and a maritime professional, recounted his experience. When he witnessed the cargo ship's sinking, he and his companions immediately set off in a small boat to approach the distressed vessel.
They successfully rescued the four crew members aboard the sinking ship and handed them over to the maritime authorities, with all four survivors reported to be safe and unharmed.
Liu added that the sunken cargo ship, hailing from Anhui, had an approximate tonnage of 3000 tonnes.
Officials from the Guangzhou Maritime Department stated that the ship was carrying iron ore powder but confirmed that there was no water pollution caused by the incident.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
