STORYLINE:

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry talked with visiting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ireland Micheal Martin in Cairo on Wednesday.

Shoukry stressed the necessity of ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict by establishing a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders.

"In other conflicts, when civilians were targeted, the European Union, its members and the international community came with absolute, clear and decisive judgments in what they considered as violations to international law. As to the case in Gaza, we do not see the same level of commitment and clarity in describing what is happening in Gaza."   

During press conference with his Irish counterpart, Shoukry pointed out that the current crisis began on October 7, but the occupation has been an aggressor against Palestine for nearly half a century, during which the Palestinian people suffer daily.

Shukri called on the international community to take necessary efforts to ensure the access of aid, which stops for exaggerated periods of time before entering the Gaza Strip due to Israeli measures.
