STORYLINE:

The 7th Silk Road International Exposition opened Thursday in Xi'an, northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

Guests from over 50 countries and regions gathered at the expo to share new opportunities for international cooperation.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): CHEN KANG, Exhibitor
"We came to the Silk Road International Expo mainly to promote Azerbaijan's agricultural products, such as pomegranate juice, pomegranate wine, red wine, other imported wines, tea, candy, and snacks. This is our first time participating in the expo. This batch of products was shipped to China by sea. In the future, we will take the China-Europe freight train service."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): Staff member, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Xi'an office
"At the Korean Pavilion, we have cosmetics, food, and daily necessities from more than 40 companies. We believe that exhibitions are the best platform to connect with Chinese customers and buyers. We hope to reach out to more ordinary Chinese customers through this opportunity. We also hope huge expos held in Xi'an will help Korean companies enter the market in the western part of China."

The event has been successfully held for six sessions, attracting more than 10,000 overseas exhibitors from over 190 countries and regions, and over 600,000 visitors.

The total amount of contracts signed for foreign investment projects has reached 45.367 billion U.S. dollars.
