Miners climb down drainage pipe to escape blazing office building in China
Miners climbed down a drainage pipe to escape a blazing office building in northern China.
The video was filmed in Lyuliang City in Shanxi Province on November 16.
A tragic fire broke out at the Yongju Coal Industry Co., Ltd. employee bathhouse.
Miner Wang Dong, who narrowly escaped the blaze said that he was in a meeting with colleagues on the third floor when they were suddenly engulfed by thick smoke, alerting them to the fire.
Wang Dong recalled the corridors filled with choking black smoke, making it impossible to descend through the stairway. Faced with an imminent life-threatening situation, many trapped individuals were prepared to leave their final words.
Their ultimate escape was made possible by slowly climbing down a drainage pipe from the third-floor window.
At least 26 people were dead and 38 injured were being treated in hospital.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
