The Israeli military says it has taken control of Gaza Harbour in an operation involving soldiers from the 188th Armored Brigade and Flotilla 13 ("Shayetet 13").

Footage shot on Wednesday 15 November by the Israeli military showed troops in the port area in Gaza City.

The Israeli military said the harbour was previously under the authority of "the Hamas terrorist organisation."

As well as being a militant group, Hamas was also the government of Gaza at the time of its bloody invasion of Israel.

The Israeli military said: "The Hamas terrorist organization used the harbor as a training facility for their naval commando forces for planning and executing naval terror attacks."

The Israeli military also claimed to have destroyed 10 "terror tunnels" used by the group, which it also accused of using civilian facilities and boats.

In a coordinated effort, soldiers from the 188th Armored Brigade and Flotilla 13 ("Shayetet 13") have successfully taken operational control of the Gaza harbor, previously under the authority of the Hamas terrorist organization.

This joint operation, involving troops from the Combat Engineering Corps and the Air Force, resulted in the destruction of 10 terror tunnel shafts and four structures dedicated to terrorist activities. Additionally, 10 terrorists were neutralized, and the entire harbor area was cleared.

The harbor, disguised as a civilian facility, served as a training ground for Hamas' naval commando forces, facilitating the planning and execution of naval terror attacks. The IDF's intervention has dealt a significant blow to Hamas' covert activities, which exploited civilian and Gaza harbor police vessels for their illicit operations.
