Israel-Palestine conflict: UN proposes ten points to end the killing in Gaza
This footage was filmed and produced 16 November 2023.
The UN Humanitarian Coordinator on Wednesday presented a 10-point plan to stop "the carnage" in the Gaza Strip, where as of November 10* more than 11,000 people had already been killed, including 4506 children and 3027 women since Israel began targeting the territory after Hamas launched an attack on October 7, in which 1200 people were killed and 240 others were abducted.
In addition, others, including some 1500 children, are reported missing and may be trapped or dead under the rubble, awaiting rescue or recovery. Another 27,490 Palestinians are reported to have been injured.
"Silence the guns. Stop the fighting to allow people to move safely. Do this for as long as possible," said the Martin Griffiths as he presented his plan with the following 10 points:
1. Facilitate the efforts of aid agencies to bring a continuous flow of aid convoys and to do so in a safe manner.
2. Open additional border crossings for the entry of aid and commercial trucks, including Kerem Shalom
3. Allow the UN, other humanitarian organizations, and public and private sector entities access to fuel in sufficient quantities to deliver aid and provide basic services
4. Allow humanitarian organizations to deliver aid throughout Gaza without hindrance or interference.
5. Enable the expansion of the number of safe havens for displaced persons in schools and other public facilities throughout Gaza and ensure that they remain as safe locations during hostilities
6. Enhance a humanitarian notification mechanism that will help spare civilians and civilian infrastructure from hostilities and help facilitate humanitarian access
7. Enable the establishment of aid distribution centers for civilians, according to need.
8. Allow civilians to move to safer areas and voluntarily return to their residences.
9. Fund the humanitarian response, which now stands at $1.2 billion.
10. Implement a humanitarian cease-fire that allows the resumption of basic services and essential trade and facilitates the delivery of aid, allows the release of hostages and provides respite for the civilian population
