A pigeon with its head bent backwards baffled locals in China.

Footage shows the white bird walking around the park with a flock but its head was bizarrely arched to the back in Guangdong province on October 16.

Onlooker Han Jiangxue said the animal seemed to hide its head somewhere under its feathers.

Pigeons can move their neck 90 degrees backward, while some as much as 180 degrees, from their usual position so they can clean and preen their back feathers, which make up most of their surface area.
