A gas explosion rocked a high-rise residential building, killing 1 in eastern China.

Video filmed in the city of Nantong in Jiangsu Province on November 17 shows flames engulfing an apartment on the 14th floor of a residential building with black smoke rising into the air and debris scattering across the area.

According to a spokesperson from the local government, the explosion was preliminarily attributed to a natural gas leak, resulting in a powerful blast.

One person was dead and four injured were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. Investigations are underway.
