Hapless wild cobra gets caught in a chicken coop
A hapless wild cobra thought he was about to have a chicken dinner - but became tangled in the coop.
Footage shows the venomous snake wriggling inside the dome enclosure while biting the bottom wire as he desperately tried to escape in Ranong province, Thailand, on November 16.
The serpent was about to eat the bird inside when the farmer saw him and quickly released the pet, leaving the reptile trapped inside.
No one was hurt, and the cobra was turned over to wildlife officers, who released him back to the forest later.
Researchers found that 7,000 people are treated for snake bites each year in Thailand. Suchai Suteparuk from the Division of Toxicology at Chulalongkorn University reported that 30 of those die, with cobras being the biggest killer.
